NYC Subway Trip Planner gets updated, makes finding your way around beneath NYC a breeze

Need a new do? Try VirtualHair for BlackBerry smartphones!

Some people are just born with an amazing head of hair. There are those have a great natural colour and others that will never know the horror of a receding hairline. I talk of the ones that have picture perfect hair; the ones who must have an army of stylists consistently making sure every single strand is in the right place. It's good to keep track of your vehicle's fuel efficiency as well as scheduled maintenance and oil changes. I remember as a kid my dad kept a little notebook in the glovebox, jotting down notes when we went to the gas station. At the time of its launch there were a handful of apps that came with BBM integration, but since then the list has grown quite a bit. With TGrape Pfilter you can take a picture, apply your favorite filter effect and share it with your friends on Twitter or Facebook via Twitpic, yfrog, or img.ly. You have the option of adding a caption before uploading too. I was a little confused at first when trying to use a photo from my album. The option isn't obvious in the menu as it is listed under "send". The app was also a bit slow to load at first on my Bold 9900, but once all the filters had loaded it moved much quicker.

The app will also track wootoffs and can be set to automatically refresh the feeds! Each tab in Wootle shows the current offer on the corresponding Woot page, and clicking the "I Want One!' button takes you to the webpage so you can order. Wootle is available for $.99, and a free trial is available. I like the simple graphics and easy to use layout in this app, it looks really nice!

Smoothie came out, then quickly disappeared without notice from App World. It's since returned, with even more features and several bug fixes. If you hadn't heard of it, Smoothie is a fun way to meet new people with similar interests, and chat with them either one-on-one or in groups. Built on the BBM Social Platform, you will need to have BBM6 installed if you wish to use Smoothie. The app is free and compatible with BlackBerry smartphones on OS 5 and greater.

The uber popular Twitter app UberSocial has added a new theme just in time for all you football fans out there. Multiprotocol IM client imo beta now available for BlackBerry

Imo has announced a beta version of their multiprotocol IM client for BlackBerry. The app is free to download and features multiple services including AIM, Yahoo!, Gtalk, Skype, Jabber, MSN and more. The company has had a web app for quite some time, but this is the first release for BlackBerry Smartphones. While it's still a bit rough around the edges, imo is a pretty decent client if you like the ability to use multiple IM services all in one place. There are plenty of features to keep most users happy, and pretty much all of the "big name" services are included. Dibbles for the BlackBerry PlayBook - Save the king!

I used to love playing Lemmings when I was a kid, so I was excited to find Dibbles by thePodge for my BlackBerry PlayBook. It's the same classic concept, save your king by passing over treacherous paths and sacrificing your people as needed for the greater good. You are given a limited number of different command stones to place before obstacles; the first Dibble to reach the stone carries out the command, ranging from making a bridge of themselves to popping off their head to become a bouncer for the following Dibbles.

The animation and graphics are great, gameplay is smooth and easy to pick up. For $.99 you get 33 levels to play through. Hopefully more will be added in the future. Dibbles was developed by thePodge, who brought us other fun PlayBook games like A Zombie Stole My Toaster and Cannibal Casserole. You'll definitely want to check them all out.

There seems to be all kinds of photo filtering apps flooding the app stores lately, each one striving to be better than the next. The latest to hit BlackBerry App World is the free app Photo Filters. Unlike some others, Photo Filters only offers filters off the bat (not any editing features) but you can purchase additional features if you want more. The free app includes Alien, Black & White, Exposure, Gain and others. If you choose to you can purchase an additional 16 filters to max out the app's capabilities. miShuffle for Facebook: Update your status with a clever saying

Now, thanks to miShuffle for Facebook, I will never be at a loss for something to say on my Facebook page. The folks over at loopSpin Inc have given us a status shuffle application for our BlackBerry devices with a simple, easy to use UI and small footprint (115.9 KB). With miShuffle, you simply select one of the categories listed and choose your status. As a nice little addition you can even submit your own clever status sayings for others to enjoy (subject to approval first). There is also the ability to modify a status message before publishing it to your Facebook wall. The application works flawlessly on my device and updates my Facebook status immediately. Bubble Birds 2: the Bubble Birds Project Sequel by XIMAD

Bubble Birds 2 is the new sequel to the popular Bubble Birds. This edition brings with it the same bright colors and cute graphics that you loved in the original game, but packs in new designs, levels and characters to make the game at once more challenging and more fun!

As usual, you have to match three or more birds of the same color to remove them from the field and score as many points as possible to top the Scoreboard. On each level you can shoot "coin" bubbles and then spend them on the level selection screen, buying either another attempt or opening some extra levels with the Golden Key. Photo Booth by S4BB Limited updated to v2.4.5 complete with BBM 6 integration

We first told you about Photo Booth by S4BB Limited back in May. If you aren't familiar with the product, it allows you to create photo strips automatically on your BlackBerry. I received notice tonight that the app has been updated to v2.4.5 and now includes integration with BlackBerry Messenger. After taking the four pictures for the photo strip you now have the option to send the resulting image to a BBM contact. The only catch with this feature is that the person you're sending the image to must also have the app installed, and you have to be on the 6.0 version of BBM. I've used this app on both my BlackBerry Torch and on my Bold 9700 with no real issues.

FilterLab

Everyone seems to love applying fun effects to their photos and BlackBerry users are no exception. We've been somewhat lacking in the app department however with very few making the cut or getting the job done well. One of the best we've seen thus far is InstaPhoto which sadly is still only available on the BlackBerry PlayBook. FilterLab is a new player to the photo fun game and is shaping up to be a pretty good solution. FilterLab lets you take photos (or choose an existing photo) and apply one of twelve fun effects to the image. Choose from 35mm, vintage, Discotek and more. Drop on a filter, let er rip and share with your friends. You can save the images to your SD card or send them to Facebook or Twitter right away. FilterLab is a pretty sweet app overall but it does lag quite a bit between processes. If you're looking to add a bit of spark to your photos however then it's not a bad choice at all. SeamlessWeb Food Delivery

The SeamlessWeb app uses your GPS to locate participating restaurants in your local area. The app displays their full menu choices, shows you the minimum needed for delivery, lists the estimated delivery time, and lets you check out with your credit card. You can even add a discount promotion code. Currently it's only available for those with personal accounts not corporate.

The interface is pretty quick with no discernible lag. Browsing through menus and food choices is no trouble at all. Just click on your meal, add to cart, insert any special instructions, enter a delivery address, and that's all there is to it. You'll need to create a free account to place an order which can be done directly within the app itself.

The only downside is it's only available in 14 cities: New York City (Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn), New York Metro (Hoboken, Jersey City, Stamford, Greenwich), Washington DC, DC Metro (Arlington, Bethesda, Chevy Chase), and select areas within San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. While coverage is limited they are looking to expand to new areas. SeamlessWeb Food Delivery is available for all GPS enabled devices with OS 4.5 or higher. Most importantly it's free to download.
