OS 7.0.0.540 Officially Released for BlackBerry Torch 9810 & 9860

RIM seems to have push OS 7.0.0.540 through certification at a few carriers. It is now available from multiple Vodafones around the world for both the BlackBerry Torch 9810 and BlackBerry Torch 9860. No word on what is new in this release but the same version on the Bold 9900 runs well.

Warning: This OS will not install on any other BlackBerry besides the one mentioned above. Don’t forget to delete the vendor.xml file located in c:program files>common files>research in motion>apploader to install it on a different carriers device. If you do not know how to upgrade your BlackBerry OS please start by reading this step by step guide.

Telstra Releases OS 7.0.0.474 For BlackBerry Torch 9810

Looks like with all the other carriers dropping official OS7′s this week, Telstra decided to follow suit.  We were just informed that Telstra has released OS 7.0.0.474 for the 9810.  You can find the OS here on Teltra’s BlackBerry softare update page.

T-Mobile Makes BlackBerry Torch 9810 Official With Availability Starting Today

T-Mobile let us know that they have made the BlackBerry Torch 9810 official. The new device is already available in an exclusive pre-sale to T-Mobile business customers starting today and will be available to all online and in stores starting November 9th. The Torch 9810 is expected to cost $249.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate card with a 2 year contract. There is no mention of UMA which is interesting… so I doubt it will be included at launch.

BlackBerry Torch 9810 Spotted in T-Mobile Inventory System

We have already heard a couple of solid rumors that the BlackBerry Torch 9810 was coming to T-Mobile USA. Now we have it showing up in the T-Mobile internal inventory system spotted by TmoNews. This more or less fits in with the current rumored November 9th launch date but no price is specified yet. It will be interesting if they will price it as competitively at AT&T.

Rumor: T-Mobile BlackBerry Torch 9810 Coming November 9th?

I thought that the BlackBerry Torch 9810 was an exclusive for AT&T but it looks like that exclusivity has a time limit unlike the original Torch. TmoNews scored a supposed leaked roadmap for T-Mobile showing a RIM BlackBerry “Dumoine” coming on November 11th. Sadly they don’t have an HSPA+ PlayBook listed but hopefully that is coming soon too.

I didn’t think that T-Mobile would be getting the Torch 9810 but last time I checked it has the compatible AWS frequency bands. Would you pick one up when it launches if this pans out?

FAQ: Are BlackBerry Torch 9800 & Torch 9810 Cases & Accessories Compatible?

I have been asked this question multiple times in the last few weeks so I thought it would be best to lay the question to rest. Many users have been asking if the accessories for the BlackBerry Torch 9800 are compatible with the new BlackBerry Torch 9810. I have tested out multiple accessories on both devices from Case-Mate, OtterBox, and other vendors and so far they have all fit like a charm. RIM confirms that the dimensions of both devices are identical and their accessories like the SyncPod clearly are for both devices.

The easiest way to confirm this and lay the question to rest is to look at RIM’s official ShopBlackBerry store which seems to have simply changed the description of every 9800 accessory to say 9800/9810. Even the battery (F-S1) is the same on both devices. In other words this is more of an upgrade like the 9780 was for the 9700 instead of the incompatible Storm 9500/9530 to the Storm 9520/9550.

RIM Interviews the Qantas Wallabies With their PlayBooks & Torch 9810s

 

I have to admit I had no idea who the Qantas Wallabies were when JD sent this to me. I did a bit of digging and then realized I should probably mention it for our mates down under. RIM posted up three episodes of them interviewing players of the Qantas Wallabies about their crazy game day rituals (many of them involving lucky underwear?) and some of their craziest injuries. They also talk about how they have been using their BlackBerry Torch 9810s and PlayBooks. I was really hoping RIM would do something like that stateside with a device called the “PlayBook” but they have not played on that yet.

Boxtone Adds Support for BlackBerry 7 Devices

 

The popular BoxTone Enterprise Mobility Management solution has announced this week that they now support the latest BlackBerry 7 devices.  That includes the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 and Torch 9810/9850/9860. No word on the just announced and soon available BlackBerry Curve 9350/9360/9370. OS 7.0.0.353 Leaked for Bold 9900/9930 & Torch 9810, 9850, 9860

We have been hearing from sources that RIM has been seeding them devices with OS 7.0.0.353 so we knew it was coming out. Thanks to N4BB you can give it a spin for yourself. Supposedly it is a solid build and RIM is putting it into carrier testing internationally. Let us know what you find!

For those of you who picked up a BlackBerry Torch 9810 we have some good news. The team at N4BB managed to snag OS 7.0.0.336 for the 9810 just as AT&T released it. No word on what this new version brings but RIM has some bugs to quash on the 9810 from what I hear.

White 9810 Now Available from Rogers and Telus

After much anticipation, Rogers and Telus have officially released the Torch 9810 in white.  It is available in stores and online.  Most users who have wanted white devices in the past have had to wait months sometimes, and its nice to see it released in a timely fashion this time.

Pricing will be the same as the original 9810 with no contract pricing for Rogers being $549 and Telus $599.  You can get this device on a 3 year term for $199 at Rogers and $129 at Telus.

OtterBox Releases Cases for BlackBerry Bold 9900 & Torch 9810

OtterBox has been on the forefront when it comes to releasing cases for BlackBerrys at launch. Their latest efforts give us a BlackBerry Defender (hardcore protection), Commuter (midway protection), and Impact (light protection) for the BlackBerry Bold 9900. They have also released a Commuter series case for the BlackBerry Torch 9810 which offers mid level protection. Bell Canada Now Selling BlackBerry Torch 9810 & Bold 9900

The carrier keep on falling into line with the Canadian launch of BlackBerry 7 devices. The latest is Bell Canada which is now carrying the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and BlackBerry Torch 9810. The 9900 is  going for $169.95 and the 9810 is going for $149.95 with a three year contract. For some annoying reason Bell is not labeling the new BlackBerrys as “superphones” but hopefully RIM can get them to correct that.

Telus Launching Bold 9900 & Torch 9810 on Friday!

Wow the floodgates are really opening up north. MobileSyrup got confirmation from Telus that the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and BlackBerry Torch 9810 will both be launching on August 12th. That is this Friday and at least a week earlier than some rumors had it. No word on their 9860 launch date.
