Quick Video Demo of BlackBerry Tag NFC Applications

Simon @IntoMobilescored a quick video showing off the new BlackBerry Tag branded NFC features RIM plans on adding soon. In the video the tag let you tap two devices together and transfer images. That would also let you transfer things like ringtones, documents, and what I really want… to easily transfer contact info. The NFC connection syncs up to create a Bluetooth connection between the devices.

RIM anuncia BlackBerry Tag – que llegará pronto a los smartphones BlackBerry

Parece que vamos a tener la posibilidad de traspasar o compartir contenidos de nuestro dispositivo BlackBerry mediante NFC en una de las próximas actualizaciones del sistema operativo BlackBerry 7, supongo que será BlackBerry 7.1. Dicha funcionalidad estará en el sistema operativo y habrán APIs para que los desarrolladores integren dicha funcionalidad dentro de sus desarrollos, así que de buen seguro muchas de las aplicaciones que hoy tenemos instaladas irán incorporando dicha funcionalidad y otras tantas aparecerán debido a la misma.

Dubai, UAE – GITEX –10 de octubre de 2011 – Durante su discurso de apertura en la conferencia GITEX en Dubai, Jim Balsillie, Co-CEO de Research In Motion (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM), mostró una nueva manera para que los usuarios de smartphones BlackBerry® puedan conectarse y compartir contenidos multimedia.

BlackBerry® Tag, que se incorporará a la próxima actualización de BlackBerry® 7 OS*, permitirá a los usuarios compartir su información de contacto, documentos, direcciones de páginas web, fotos y otros contenidos multimedia con un simple toque entre los dos smartphones BlackBerry. BlackBerry Tag también permitirá a los amigos añadirse como contactos en BBM™ (BlackBerry® Messenger) de forma inmediata.

BlackBerry Tag aprovecha la tecnología Near Field Communications (NFC) incluida dentro de los smartphones BlackBerry® Bold™ 9900/9930 y BlackBerry® Curve™ 9350/9360/9370, lanzados recientemente, siendo estos los primeros smartphones que darán soporte a BlackBerry Tag.

RIM también anunció planes para presentar BlackBerry Tag a través de API en la plataforma BlackBerry, permitiendo así que los desarrolladores de software se puedan aprovechar de la funcionalidad que permite compartir con su simple toque (tap to share) desde dentro de sus propias aplicaciones.

RIM Announces BlackBerry Tag NFC Features Coming Soon

We know that RIM has things planned for the NFC technology built into the latest BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 and Curve 9350/9360/9370 and now it has a name. RIM announced that they are calling it BlackBerry Tag and its coming soon to BlackBerrys. They claim it will let BBM friends add each other by simply tapping phones. It will also let you share contact information, documents, URLs, photos, and multimedia easily.

Here is what Jim Balsillie had to say about it:

DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES–(Marketwire – Oct. 10, 2011) – GITEX – During his keynote presentation at the GITEX conference in Dubai, Research In Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM)(TSX:RIM) Co-CEO Jim Balsillie today unveiled a new way for BlackBerry(R) smartphone users to connect with one another and share multimedia content.
BlackBerry(R) Tag, which will be incorporated in the next BlackBerry(R) 7 OS update(i), will allow users to share contact information, documents, URLs, photos and other multimedia content by simply tapping their BlackBerry smartphones together. BlackBerry Tag will also enable friends to instantly add one another as contacts on BBM(TM) (BlackBerry(R) Messenger).

BlackBerry Tag takes advantage of Near Field Communications (NFC) technology included in the recently launched BlackBerry(R) Bold(TM) 9900/9930 and BlackBerry(R) Curve(TM) 9350/9360/9370 smartphones, and these are the first BlackBerry smartphones that will support BlackBerry Tag.
RIM also announced plans to expose BlackBerry Tag through APIs on the BlackBerry platform, allowing software developers to take advantage of "tap to share" functionality from within their own applications.
