Tafasa PatternLock v2.1 Adds Support for BlackBerry 7

The popular PatternLock app just got a nice update in App World to v2.1. This new version packs compatibility with touchscreen BlackBerry 7 along with other updates. Only the premium version of PatternLock has been updated with the free PatternLock lite still sitting at v2.0. In case you didn’t know PatterLock allows you to lock/unlock your touchscreen BlackBerry by defining a lock pattern and moving your finger over it to unlock. It has a ton of options and even a theme system for users.

You can find the updated PatternLock in App World for $1.99 or the store if you picked it up there. They have been rising up in the App World charts since they released the update.

RIM is Suddenly Very Interested in Lock Screen Widgets

 

We heard some rumblings at BlackBerry World that RIM was working with Microsoft to bake Bing directly into the BlackBerry OS and lock screen though only a few concepts were shown. In RIM’s latest market research survey they sent me this week they definitely seem to be going further or at least contemplating it. In the survey they were asking if you would want to see your RSS feeds, messages and more on your homescreen. They even had a bunch of mock ups of what they are considering shown below:

New S4BB Rotation Lock App Free for One Month

There have been quite a few rotation locking apps over the years for the Storm and now Torch devices. They have come and gone but S4BB let us know they are offering their own Rotation Lock app in App World for free for one month though they don’t mention when that month ends. I am not sure what other solutions are out there since I simply lock the rotation of my Torch by opening up the keyboard but to each his own. Still it cannot hurt to mention a useful free (for now) app.
