Multiprotocol IM client imo beta now available for BlackBerry

Imo has announced a beta version of their multiprotocol IM client for BlackBerry. The app is free to download and features multiple services including AIM, Yahoo!, Gtalk, Skype, Jabber, MSN and more. The company has had a web app for quite some time, but this is the first release for BlackBerry Smartphones. While it's still a bit rough around the edges, imo is a pretty decent client if you like the ability to use multiple IM services all in one place. There are plenty of features to keep most users happy, and pretty much all of the "big name" services are included. Now, thanks to miShuffle for Facebook, I will never be at a loss for something to say on my Facebook page. The folks over at loopSpin Inc have given us a status shuffle application for our BlackBerry devices with a simple, easy to use UI and small footprint (115.9 KB). With miShuffle, you simply select one of the categories listed and choose your status. As a nice little addition you can even submit your own clever status sayings for others to enjoy (subject to approval first). There is also the ability to modify a status message before publishing it to your Facebook wall. The application works flawlessly on my device and updates my Facebook status immediately. Bubble Birds 2: the Bubble Birds Project Sequel by XIMAD

Bubble Birds 2 is the new sequel to the popular Bubble Birds. This edition brings with it the same bright colors and cute graphics that you loved in the original game, but packs in new designs, levels and characters to make the game at once more challenging and more fun!

As usual, you have to match three or more birds of the same color to remove them from the field and score as many points as possible to top the Scoreboard. FilterLab

Everyone seems to love applying fun effects to their photos and BlackBerry users are no exception. We've been somewhat lacking in the app department however with very few making the cut or getting the job done well. One of the best we've seen thus far is InstaPhoto which sadly is still only available on the BlackBerry PlayBook. FilterLab is a new player to the photo fun game and is shaping up to be a pretty good solution. FilterLab lets you take photos (or choose an existing photo) and apply one of twelve fun effects to the image. Choose from 35mm, vintage, Discotek and more. Drop on a filter, let er rip and share with your friends. You can save the images to your SD card or send them to Facebook or Twitter right away. FilterLab is a pretty sweet app overall but it does lag quite a bit between processes. If you're looking to add a bit of spark to your photos however then it's not a bad choice at all. SeamlessWeb Food Delivery

The SeamlessWeb app uses your GPS to locate participating restaurants in your local area. The app displays their full menu choices, shows you the minimum needed for delivery, lists the estimated delivery time, and lets you check out with your credit card. You can even add a discount promotion code. Currently it's only available for those with personal accounts not corporate.

The interface is pretty quick with no discernible lag. Browsing through menus and food choices is no trouble at all. Just click on your meal, add to cart, insert any special instructions, enter a delivery address, and that's all there is to it. You'll need to create a free account to place an order which can be done directly within the app itself.

The only downside is it's only available in 14 cities: New York City (Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn), New York Metro (Hoboken, Jersey City, Stamford, Greenwich), Washington DC, DC Metro (Arlington, Bethesda, Chevy Chase), and select areas within San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. While coverage is limited they are looking to expand to new areas. SeamlessWeb Food Delivery is available for all GPS enabled devices with OS 4.5 or higher. Most importantly it's free to download.

Fixmo Web Messenger out of beta, now available in the CrackBerry App Store

The name Fixmo has been seen around CrackBerry.com quite a few times; whether it’s been the ever evolving Fixmo Tools application or the tethering Fixmo Extend. Last month, Kevin informed us that Fixmo had entered a BlackBerry Messenger desktop client into public beta – aptly named Fixmo Web Messenger. Once installed on your BlackBerry smartphone, you can access the Fixmo site to log in. Using any browser, you can use Fixmo Web Messenger to access BBM and OMG and LOL to your hearts content. Both Mac and PC are supported. Features include:

Now it’s a little tricky when navigating the Messenger application in the browser – you have the menu and back button that work well, but I found the scrolling buttons to be unresponsive at times. It can handle both one on one or group messaging. There was a lag when it came to the display, as well. My BlackBerry would respond almost instantly to the commands executed from the browser, but the browser display would be roughly 2 to 3 seconds behind. The application is still a great way to be a little more discreet when using BlackBerry Messenger. Fixmo Web Messenger is currently on Sale for $2.99 (from $4.99) at the CrackBerry AppStore. Fancy Widgets by Sergey Demyanov

While not a native function of BlackBerry at this time, you can have widgets on your home screen with the help of applications such as Fancy Widgets, which we first showed you back in December. Packed with options, this application will replace your current wallpaper with the widgets you choose. Don't worry if you are a wallpaper fanatic though; one of the included options is a wallpaper changer. You can add widgets such as stocks, weather, quotes, countdown, Twitter, and RSS feeds, and place them wherever you want. If you switch themes often, this is a key feature as you can reposition, add, and remove widgets as needed. You can even save and load previous profiles to save time! BerryWeather is supported as well, which I know is huge for a lot of you out there.

The latest version of Fancy Widgets is v1.2.4. This version has brought some worthwhile updates, so if you haven't checked it out yet it's a good time to do so! You can download the free version which gives you access to just two widgets, or get the full version for $2.99.

Talking Kitty by Almoko
You've seen similar apps for Android and iOS, now you can have it on your BlackBerry too! Talking Kitty records what you say to it, then repeats it back to you in a silly voice. It's a simple app to use. Click or tap on the cute, hand-drawn kitty picture and you'll see the microphone turn red to indicate you're recording. Speak, and when you're done click the kitty again. He will repeat back to you what you said, but in a goofy voice. My daughter loved this app, and enjoyed recording herself over and over. The only thing really missing is the ability to save your recordings and forward them. Hopefully this will be added in a future update. Overall Talking Kitty is cute and easy to use, and will keep your kids (and maybe even you!) entertained for some time. The app is available for $.99 and is compatible with BlackBerry 8220, 8520, 89xx, 9000, 91xx, 9300, 95xx, 9700 and 9800 (GSM only, CDMA devices are not supported).
