Let SugarSync Know You Want a PlayBook App Now!

Its no big secret that I am a big fan of SugarSync. They made my day earlier this week by adding folder sync to their BlackBerry smartphone app but there is a major hole in their BlackBerry support. They currently do not have an app for the BlackBerry PlayBook and their website seems to act up for some PlayBook users. I reached out to SugarSync to see what they had to say about PlayBook support.

SugarSync got back to us and let us know that they are still monitoring how the market reacts to the PlayBook and if they see enough demand they will develop an app. You want to know how to show SugarSync that there is demand for it? Request a PlayBook app in this thread on their forums. SugarSync told us they keep a close eye on their forums and it influences their feature development decisions.

About SugarSync’s website acting up in the PlayBook browser they have been getting mixed messages. According to many customers the browser experience works fine (I would say about 90% in my experience) but some users have expressed complaints. SugarSync does not have any timelines but they are researching the issue and are investigation how they can optimize their website for the PlayBook.

SugarSync updated to 2.1, offers SD card sync and offline access

SugarSync is by far one of my favorite applications to have on my BlackBerry. It’s one of the few apps I have loyally installed on each of my BlackBerry smartphones over the past couple of years. By making use of SugarSync, you can access your files from anywhere – a traffic jam, the beach, the toilet; anywhere! It’s not just read-only access to your documents; it’s access, edit and then sync. Through the application you can stream your entire music collection without having to access a single USB or set up WiFi Music Sync. SugarSync for BlackBerry v2.1 Adds Local Folder Sync!

For some reason SugarSync has not yelled this from the rooftop but thankfully @diegonei pointed it out. SugarSync for BlackBerry has been updated to v2.1 and it adds a brand new feature that I have been begging them for years to add. It now lets you sync folders to the SD card and memory of your BlackBerry. Sweet right? I also notice that this new version looks much better on my OS 7 BlackBerry Bold 9930 so it could be they tweaked it for new devices too. Either way this is yet another reason why you should be signing up for SugarSync now. As SugarSync says “If you like DropBox you will love SugarSync!”
