Telstra Releases OS 7.0.0.474 For BlackBerry Torch 9810

Looks like with all the other carriers dropping official OS7′s this week, Telstra decided to follow suit.  We were just informed that Telstra has released OS 7.0.0.474 for the 9810.  You can find the OS here on Teltra’s BlackBerry softare update page.

US Cellular Releases OS 7.0.0.464 for the Torch 9850

The OS7 officials keep on coming. The latest comes to us from U.S. Cellular which has released OS7.0.0.464 for the Torch 9850.  You can download it directly from the BlackBerry Software page for U.S. Cellular.

Rumor: BlackBerry AppWorld 3.0 Coming August 22nd

World on the web has gotten around this morning that BlackBerry AppWorld 3.0 will be released on Monday August 22nd.   I have been beta testing it for a few weeks now, and it is the upgrade that AppWorld has needed.  The program in beta is still not perfect, but a nice upgrade from 2.0. Hopefully RIM has a build that had not been released to the Betazone, with some of the issues fixed.

Official OS 7.0.0.261 for the BlackBerry Torch 9850 available from US Cellular

 

Do you like having the latest (and possibly greatest) OS for your BlackBerry Smartphone, but hate the hassles involved with a leaked Operating System? Also, do you have a BlackBerry Torch 9850? Then you're in luck! US Cellular has released OS 7.0.0.261 as an official update for the smartphone. Remember that if US Cellular is not your wireless provider, you'll need to delete the Vendor.xml file before installing. As always, use caution when installing any OS on your device. My First 24hrs With My BlackBerry Bold 9900

I first off want to say, even though I am a huge RIM fan, I was having my doubts.  I now own an iPhone 4 and have had 2 Android devices in my possession within the last 5 months.  All of them competing for my dedication, and each wanting to become my primary device, replacing my tried and true 9700.  Then I got the call from my local Bell World (I have become friends with one of the sales guys) that the 9900s are now in the store, and locked in his managers office.2 days later, they were able to sell them, a very sneaky and stealth release, as a Bell CSR told me on the phone that the official launch is August 16th.  I went down yesterday and picked one up, and immediately I was impressed.  It feels slick , well engineered, the keyboard is very big and spacious. It beats my old favorite keyboard of the 8900.  The screen is very bright, and detailed, and the over all aesthetics of the device are best to date on any BlackBerry I have held or seen.

One thing I was worried about, was the integration of the touch screen in to the normal navigation and use of the device,  and let me say it is very intuitive and comes natural.  I find myself using it more and more, and my trackpad being ignored.  I am still not accustomed to using it for pictures or viewing web pages, but I am sure it will come.  I will say it is very nice to be able to flick scroll through the navigation panes on the homescreen; and it is very fluid, with no lag.

The device is solid, and very fast.  I barely see the hourglass (I have only seen it while service books were rolling in, and while I was installing/uninstalling apps), the big keyboard is superb, a little clickity, but it will break in.  And over all I would say one of the only downsides would be the lack of auto focus on the camera, but its a phone, I carry a camera for pictures.

I am still awaiting for app support for applications such as SocialScope, and other apps that work, show up as unsupported in AppWorld so it a s hunting game right now looking for latest updated OTAs and finding out if they work correctly.

Overall I am impressed, I wont say it is a home-run that will save RIM, but it is a huge step in the right direction, using the 1.2Ghz processor makes the device so fast, and I honestly had to get used to scrolling because there was no lag what so ever.  One thing I will say though, is that this device will remain my primary, and the others will get dusty on my shelf.

BlackBerry Torch II Makes It’s Way to the FCC

Just recently we saw the BlackBerry 9900 make it’s way to the FCC website for approval and today the Torch II (9810) sketch shows up on the FCC website. According to the filings the Torch II only supports GSM 850 and 1900 bands, including WCDMA bands II and V. Earlier rumors pointed to a T-Mobile release also but that is still unsure since it may be a while before we see this device make it’s way to other carriers. The Torch up until now has been an AT&T exclusive, only time will tell if T-Mobile will get this one. They were also going to release the all touch Monaco but it seems T-Mobile scrapped that one within the last few months.

OS 7.0.0.187 For Bold 9900/30, 9850/60, Curve 9350/70 Leaked

We have seen leaked videos and pictures for this devices in the last months and now here is the OS for them. For most of us who do not have either of these devices hybrid builders may find something to keep them busy with these leaks. Do not attempt to install them on current devices as it will not work or if some how you do manage to do so it will certainly brick your BlackBerry.
