It has been awhile since I purchased a ZAGG invisibleSHIELD screen cover for my BlackBerry but it is still one of the most popular options available. Tom let us know that he just placed an order for two invisibleSHIELDs for his new BlackBerry Bold 9930 and was shocked to discover that the shield is no longer so invisible. It now has the companies name “ZAGG” stamped on the bottom left part of the screen protector. This branding might not be that bad if they did it over a unusable part of the screen but it clearly covers the screen. That is a real shame since they could have at least taken usability in mind when they performed their branding decisions.
When he first contacted ZAGG they offered to give him a 25% off coupon and compared the branding to the Nike or Apple logo on their devices but Tom pointed out they don’t cover the screen with it. Here is Tom’s response to that:
Tom did escalate this to the ZAGG Office of the President and they have kindly offered to send him replacements without the branding. It is nice to see that ZAGG is doing the right thing for Tom but we still think it is worth mentioning for others who may be considering the purchase of a not so invisible invisibleSHIELD.
Let us know in the comments if you ran into the same issue or have found an alternative. Hopefully ZAGG realizes the error of their ways and stops putting their branding over the screen. Avoiding poor usability should always trump marketing.
