From the Forums: BlackBerry PlayBook used to record Soundgarden concert

Here is another awesome example of the BlackBerry PlayBook's video recording capabilities. CrackBerry member guyhockey took his PlayBook with him to a recent Soundgarden concert, and used it to record the first two songs of the concert! Not only does the video look great even under challenging lighting conditions, but the audio is pretty awesome as well. Don't be afraid to watch this one in 1080p and fullscreen, it looks terrific. Guyhockey previously posted a video taken with his PlayBook on a rollercoaster, which is also pretty cool.

ShootnShare BlackBerry theme series brings quality themes along with a fun mini-app inside

ShootnShare

Over the years we have seen tons and tons of BlackBerry themes come and go, many of them offering unique features like sliding docks, animations, and much more, and the folks at ShootnShare didn't want to feel left out of the fun. They have created a mini application, ShootnShare, which has been built into a number of themes in a series, and it is pretty neat.

The idea behind ShootnShare is to take a shot of what is on your screen, make some minor edits to the image, and share it directly to your Twitter or Facebook account. No more taking a screen shot, opening up your social application, navigating to the image, and uploading, instead it is all done in one quick and easy process. Some themes that include the application are Holiday PostcardStickers (this one has a custom CrackBerry template you can download too!) and many more which can all be found at their website

Review – miShuffle, Say Something Creative on Facebook

Sometimes finding the most clever thing to say on Facebook is harder that it seems. Finding something with meaning, cleverness, hilarity or just sarcastic so you get all the “Likes” you wish to have is a daunting task. Well, here is a tiny app that will help you find those posts. miShuffle is a relatively small app (116.6 KB) with LOTS of posts you can use. Ranging from Beauty and Family Matters to Insults and Political Incorrectness and SO much more. There are 62 topics to choose from with each topic have at least 4 different posts you can use.

All you do it just log into Facebook as soon as the app is opened for the first time, then choose your post and hit “Post”. And within 10 seconds, your post is live for others to read, comment and providing they have a sense of humor, “Like”. Another nice thing I see is that every time your reboot your device, you must log into Facebook to use the application. This is good because then you know that the app is not storing your information.

If you need a little bit of inspiration in your Facebook posts, you can get miShuffle for $1.99 $.99 (on sale) in the BerryReview Store.

RIM Shares More Developer Success Stories from App World

App World of Possibilities

Since RIM started App World I have been asking for them to share some developer success stories. Even better would be adding rankings and badges for developers on App World sort of like eBay’s feedback rating system. They started offering us some good details when App World hit 1 billion downloads but now they are back with more. I am just hoping they make this a regular feature. Potential devs should know the opportunity available on the BlackBerry platform. Here is the info they shared:

  • Have you heard of Jingu? This social app from Jingu Apps Inc. allows users to create avatars for BBM, access a wide assortment of new emoticons and participate in a new social environment. In a very short time, Jingu has surpassed a million downloads.
  • Spice Labs Pvt Ltd. have seen more than 16 million downloads of their paid and free applications, which include Hangman and HangmanKids. Spice Labs is focused on games with an educational twist and look to engage and teach children and youth.
  • WeatherEye HD is an application for the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet that was built using the BlackBerry WebWorks toolset and is not only visually rich, but is also designed to take advantage of the BlackBerry WebWorks tools to create a deep app experience. In a short period of time, this app has seen more than 50,000 downloads.
  • Doodle Blast on the BlackBerry PlayBook is an addictive game that has hooked family and friends. Users create “ink” pathways to get balls to fall into a container and achieve levels. They have had almost 50,000 downloads since the launch of their application.
  • Crystal Balls from ingames is a simple game where players must combine three or more balls of the same color to make them explode – it’s like TETRIS® meets Gem Swap. The Crystal Ball Free version is almost at one million downloads now.

Slice and dice your way to victory with Ninja Fruit Bash for BlackBerry

Ninja Fruit Bash BlackBerry

Want the perfect way to relieve stress on your BlackBerry (short of throwing it against the wall)? Check out Ninja Fruit Bash for BlackBerry. Yes, it looks just like that other fruit slicing game, and it plays pretty much the same way. Loads of fruit is tossed in your direction and you'll need to slice it up - that's it. The gameplay is simple and pretty smooth, however on a trackpad device it's not the easiest thing to do as you have to move the crosshairs around then click to slice. The play on the Torch is obviously much better and way easier, but it's still fun on all devices regardless. Slice the fruit, avoid the bombs, score points ... done and done. Check out more in the CrackBerry App Store.

Will RIM Still Release Camera-Less BlackBerrys?

Cameraless BlackBerry Bold

One of our readers, Joe, pointed out an interesting question in our comments. He was curious if the BlackBerry Bold 9930/9900 will also have a camera-less version of the device. It is becoming harder every day to find a smartphone that is not packing a camera. On the other hand RIM has catered to the camera-less market quite a few times with BlackBerry models without cameras shortly after their camera packing variant launches.

So I thought I would throw the question out there. Have you read anything about BlackBerry 7 devices without a camera? I remember reading leaked documentation way back when these models were firmly in rumorville that included a camera-less version of the 9900 but nothing recent. Do you work at a job that does not allow cameras? Its also interesting to note that the BlackBerry PlayBook has yet to even have a rumor about a camera-less version of the tablet.

Front Runner for the BlackBerry PlayBook

Front Runner! That bastion of good and righteousness in the galaxy! With guns blazing, this indefatigable hero blasts into the galaxy striving to put right what once went wrong, and hoping each time that his next leap, will be the leap home. Okay, no. Front Runner is simply a dude in a spaceship. One day, Red Ivan - that scourge of the galaxy - shows up, and our hero decides that enough is enough.

There are many enemies to defeat in Front Runner, and they come at you in waves. Some shoot missiles, some shoot energy rings, other crawl along the walls of the screen AND shoot energy rings. In first few missions, this really isn't a big problem. Later missions and the game's endless mode will certainly challenge even the most dexterous of players. As you play through the game's bosses - Red Ivan, the Electric Twins, and Dizzy and Daisy - you'll get their weapons. By the time you reach endless mode, you'll have a main gun that fires in 4 directions, missiles that home in on enemies, an electric blast for those that get too close, and the ferocious loyalty of Daisy.

All these weapons are put to the test in Endless Mode. There, you play until you die. And you will die many, many times. Each time I play though, I make it a little further. Of course, the game makes it a little harder too. The last time I died, I think I had three Red Ivans and two Electric Twins on the screen, I had just defeated a Dizzy, and there was all manner of insanity on my screen.

If you're in the mood for a fun shoot-em-up game set in space, I heartily recommend Front Runner. More screenshots after the break.

BerryReview Blows Past 10,000 Articles Milestone!

Big group of young jumping people.

We just had our 4th birthday in June but I somehow find this milestone more impressive. This article is officially the 10,000th article written on BerryReview. It still amazes me how far BerryReview has come since it started in June of 2007. While we are already giving away a BlackBerry Bold 9900 this month courtesy of the BerryReview Unlocking store I managed to convince them to throw yet another big contest for August. It looks like the Bold 9900 will be the first BlackBerry 7 device to launch but let us know what you think we should give away in August!

With that said I wanted to thank all our wonderful readers, writers, and contributors for making BerryReview a site that truly gives back to the BlackBerry community. Onwards to 20,000 articles! We hope you stick around for the wild ride!

Fake of the Week: Knockoff Torch looks just like the real thing (kind of)

Fake BlackBerry Torch

It's been quite a while seen we've seen a good fake BlackBerry, but Scott let us know that he spotted this knockoff BlackBerry Torch. It looks almost as good as the real thing - complete with slider, trackpad and Torch branding on the back - but this fake also sports some dual-SIM action, TV, Wifi, Bluetooth and more. As you can see from the photos it's not running a legit BlackBerry OS however, so if that is something you need then you might want to pick up the real thing. Keep reading for a few more images or check it out for yourself. Thanks Scott!

BlackBerry PlayBook sold out in Malaysia, coming soon to a Maxis Centre near you

BlackBerry PlayBook

Maxis Communications Berhad, a leading mobile service provider in Malaysia, launched the BlackBerry PlayBook in the country a little over a week ago. Much to its surprise, Maxis experienced a huge number of pre-orders (or pre-bookings) and has since closed the offer due to higher than expected demand. Navigating to Maxis' page for the BlackBerry PlayBook presents the following information:

Please be informed that booking for the BlackBerry® PlayBookTM is now closed. If you have missed out, don't worry as normal purchase will be available at Maxis Centres soon

On July 15th, Maxis launched the new tablet at an exclusive event, against a backdrop of breathtaking views of Kuala Lumpur skyline from The View at Level 29 of G Tower. Invited attendees came together for a night of devices, dinner, dancing and lucky draws. Jean Pascal Van Overbeke, Maxis' Chief Operating Officer and host of the event said, "Maxis has been constantly bringing the future to our customers, delighting them with enhanced communications experiences. We have invested in the building of an entire ecosystem that supports their communications needs - through providing them with the best devices, rate plans, network coverage and customer service. We are pleased today to launch this beautiful new sophisticated tablet, the BlackBerry PlayBook first and exclusively to our customers." Dany Bolduc, Vice President, Malaysia at RIM, added that "We [RIM] are thrilled to be working with Maxis in bringing the BlackBerry PlayBook to Malaysia."

And the partnership really shows. Available with a choice of either a 1.5GB or 3GB monthly data plan (starting at RM30, or $10 USD) and a 12- or 24-month contract, customers have a wide variety of options to choose from. Existing Maxis BIS customers can get the BlackBerry PlayBook for as low as RM990 (approx. $335 USD) when they sign up for a 3GB data plan with their BlackBerry smartphone. Maxis also offers the BlackBerry PlayBook for an additional RM100 savings if you buy it together with the BlackBerry Bold 9780 or BlackBerry Torch 9800 (please check Maxis' website for conditions).

Interestingly, Maxis has also partnered with software developers to bring six customized applications to the BlackBerry PlayBook. Applications are available for download on BlackBerry App World and include a language translator, currency converter, Formula 1 app as well as a location-based service app to find areas of interest (think Poynt, but tailor-made for Malaysia). An app to locate Maxis Wi-Fi hotspots is part of the pack, too.

Maxis has certainly put a lot of effort and dedication into bringing the BlackBerry PlayBook to the digitally connected people of Malaysia, and the successful launch of the tablet in the country is a feat worthy of celebration not only in Malaysia, but the world of #TeamBlackBerry at large.

BlackBerry remains number 1 selling smartphone in Saudi Arabia for eleven consecutive months

BlackBerry Saudi Arabia

In spite of recent events, satirical publications and other difficulties pressuring RIM, not all of Waterloo is going the way of the dodo. Recent point-of-sale data by market research agency GfK Retail and Technology suggests that RIM has actually witnessed a year-on-year growth of 112% from May 2010 to May 2011. According to the same data, the BlackBerry Curve 8520 - commonly referred to by its codename 'Gemini' - was ranked the number 1 selling smartphone from July 2010 until May 2011 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Nothing short of interesting, the numbers presented in the data are also a little surprising. However, after a chat with a good friend of mine who spent some time in Saudi Arabia, the numbers are all but unexpected, or so he says. In fact, he assured me that it was well-nigh impossible to go a single day without hearing at least one 'di-ding' of an incoming BBM. It was not until he saw a 7-year-old girl carrying a BlackBerry smartphone that he thought the locals had "lost their minds". A similar trend can be seen in other parts of the world such as Indonesia, but what exactly is it about the BlackBerry smartphone that makes everyone so attached to it? I don't know, I honestly don't know. What I do know, however, is that RIM managed to add 1 million EMEA customers in just three weeks despite weaker than expected revenue for Q1 2011.

Patrick Spence, Managing Director of RIM EMEA, said that BlackBerry was the leading smartphone brand in the Netherlands, South Africa and the UK, as well as showing strong growth in the Middle East. I can only applaud RIM for reaching this milestone and hope that BlackBerry continues to be a strong brand around the world. The numbers are out there, the people have voiced their opinion and it is only a matter of time before #TeamBlackBerry will once again take victory and bestow its power on everyone. So if anything - THE RIMPIRE IS STRIKING BACK! GO #TeamBlackBerry!

Review: DICOTA TabBook Case for the BlackBerry PlayBook

tabbook5DICOTA is one of the newest members the join the Built for BlackBerry alliance but they are not new to making cases and bags to protect your electronics on the go with stylish designs.  They make cases for BlackBerry devices, and the recently launched BlackBerry PlayBook. DICOTA sent us a sample for a reviewand a few extra to giveaway which some of our lucky readers were first to have these cases on their hands.

The one am going to review is  the TabBook Case for the BlackBerry PlayBook.  This is a unique and stylish design featuring a notebook style casing that makes it look like your simply carrying a stylish tabbook6agenda or a notebook on your hands. In the interior of the case there is a hard shell that encases the PlayBook to keep it secure while providing access to all the ports and buttons through cut out sections.

Main Features:

The really neat feature on this case is the way it allows you to fold it into a stand to view in two different modes. When you are done using it the case can be easily put back into a notebook hiding and protecting your PlayBook.  The case also  has a strap that allows you to fit your hand through it making it more secure while you hold with one hand.

The easy access buttons, and camera are easy to access without taking away from the usability of the device. For the back camera it has a cut out that allows you to take pictures or video without having to  take the PlayBook out of the case.

If you are looking for a good quality case this one offers quite a bit of features and it should be out for sale soon. If you like to find out more about this case you can go to this link. No pricing is available at the moment but they should be out soon.

Facebook for PlayBook

Just two days ago Facebook got a big update for both phones and the BlackBerry PlayBook. Today there is another small update for the PlayBook app to v2.0.0.986. You should be prompted to install the update (if you haven't already) through BlackBerry App World. You can check out more on the release of Facebook 2.0 in our original post.

I have not been exactly kind to my BlackBerry holsters. Over the short few years I've owned a BlackBerry, I've owned many; I even reviewed an excellent case and holster combo here on CrackBerry. And yet through one way or another, I've destroyed them all. "Normal Wear and Tear" has never met the likes of me. I've slammed holsters in car doors, rammed them into counter tops, dropped them from great height, and in general, abused the heck out of them. All of them protected my phone quite well, but no holster can withstand forever the barrage of abuse I can throw at it.

Not wanting to buy yet another holster, I began looking for other options. Then I found the Smartphone Experts Pocket Pouch for BlackBerry Torch 9800. It's a hard leather case designed to protect your ‘Berry from the dangers of life in a pocket or purse. Carrying my smartphone in my pocket means I'm not going to slam it into door or get my phone caught uncomfortably in a car's seat belt. Protected inside its case, I don't have to worry about keys, change, and whatever else is in my pockets destroying my Torch's screen.

The inside of the case is lined with felt to gently cushion your BlackBerry inside the case. Though the case holds very tightly to the phone, the felt helps it to slip out with just a little deliberate effort. That effort is helped by a small pull tab that helps bring your phone out of the case. I'll admit it; it took me a few tries to figure out how it worked. Once it I did though, that pull tab makes things a lot easier.

The best feature of any BlackBerry case, the Smartphone Experts Pocket Pouch features that all-important sleeper magnet. Using this magnet, Blackberry smartphones know when they're in a case and will actually change their behavior. Usually, this means the phone will vibrate more, but these settings can be easily customized in the sound profiles.

The Smartphone Experts Pocket Pouch for BlackBerry Torch is a great alternative to holstering your BlackBerry. Its hard leather case and soft felt inner lining give protection to your phone. It's a very stiff case, but that means your BlackBerry isn't going anywhere once it's inside. Finally, the sleeper magnet gives you all the benefits of a side holder without the almost inevitability of slamming it into a door.

 BlackBerry Pushcast

Way back in early 2009 RIM acquired Chalk Pushcast Software and we were hoping for big things from the acquisition. It seems like they do have users for the software because they did release a PlayBook version but now they have officially dropped the Chalk name to simply call it BlackBerry Pushcast. They brand the solution as giving enterprises the ability to:

RIM Releases BlackBerry Messenger 6 Officially!

BBM Talking

RIM let us know that the official rollout of BlackBerry Messenger 6.0 starts at 12:01AM EST. Sorry we jumped the gun a few hours ago but now you understand why. You can start checking App World now for the update but due to their 24 hour cache period that may take a bit. As you have already seen RIM has started approving apps in App World that make use of the Social Platform available in BBM 6 so they are available when BBM6 launches now.

In an interview with Mike Kirkup, Director of Developer Relations @ RIM, he told us that BBM now has 45 million users and is seeing tremendous growth. They process over a billion BBM messages a day and the number is only growing. This ability to use BBM inside 3rd party apps is going to be explosive but more on that soon. RIM’s goal is to let developer harness BBM’s instant feature. Mike told me his colleague described it as both Instant AND Intimate. In other words sub 3 second messages along with a intimate private chat setting. Now developers are going to be able to tap into that powerful BBM social graph.

You should be able to find BBM 6 in App World sometime today or directly at:

RIM Delivers Revolutionary Social App Experience with BBM 6
Apps become social experiences once users can interact with their BBM friends

Waterloo, ON – BBMTM (BlackBerry® Messenger), one of the largest mobile social networks in the world is now enabling a new and revolutionary social experience. Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today announced the availability of BBM version 6 (BBM 6), which provides support for "BBM connected" apps, allowing users to easily interact with each other from within the BBM connected app.

BBM connected apps integrate the popular functionality of the BBM service and offer users the ability to interact with their friends from within the app itself. For example, with a BBM connected game app, users can invite their BBM friends to join them in a game and then chat with one another in real time while the game is being played – without ever leaving the game app.

BBM 6 launches today and a selection of BBM connected apps are already available on BlackBerry App WorldTM.

“BBM 6 marks the beginning of an even greater social experience for BlackBerry smartphone users,” said Alistair Mitchell, VP, BBM Platform & Integrated Services at Research In Motion. “It also represents an incredible opportunity for developers to leverage the viral nature of the BBM service and we have already begun working with various developer partners who will be bringing their BBM connected apps to BlackBerry App World this week, offering users highly engaging app experiences.”

Some of the additional functionality users can expect to see with BBM connected applications include the ability to:

The BBM 6 software will be available later today at www.blackberry.com/blackberrymessenger. A selection of BBM connected apps will also be posted on BlackBerry App World this week, with many more expected over the coming months.

10 BlackBerry Messenger 6.0 Powered Apps – Developers Sound Off!

 BBM Social Platform

The team at RIM has rounded up some of the many new and long time titles in App World that are now making use of the new BlackBerry Messenger 6.0 and its new Social Platform SDK APIs. This list is in no way extensive and some of the apps are still rolling out but its a good place to start. It includes some of the apps we have already mentioned on BerryReview and including the upcoming augmented reality Wikitude BlackBerry OS 7 app. Personally I am checking out Backgammon King when I have time today. I have always wanted to play Backgammon with friends instead of random strangers.

Each app below has an accompanying message from the developer explaining what they thought of BBM 6 and the social platform it is packing. Its great to see such a positive response from BlackBerry developers from games to business app developers.

Backgammon King (App World) – One of Magmic’s top games is now social. If you want to play against a friend , challenge a BBM contact to a friendly  game or send an invite to download and start the fun.

“Players have always been able to play Backgammon King against real opponents but playing against your friends took a lot of time and effort,” said Troy Johnson, Director Strategic Initiatives, Magmic. “Your BBM contacts are your friends and BBM 6 is making it incredibly easy to share Backgammon King with them and invite them to play in real-time. The ease of access to our product, the ease of sharing and the ease of player engagement are each major breakthroughs. Combine those attributes of BBM 6 with Magmics’ industry leading in-game chat design and you have an incredibly entertaining experience. Trash talking your best friend over a game of backgammon has never been easier and more fun. It’s no exaggeration to say, for Backgammon King, BBM 6 is a real game changer.”

Foursquare (App World) – Foursquare is all about helping you find new ways to explore the city. Earn points and unlock badges, profiles and status updates over BBM.

"RIM is a fantastic partner. We’re thrilled to be working with them to provide a better experience to millions of foursquare users around the world by integrating foursquare with BBM," said Holger Luedorf, VP of Mobile and Partnerships for foursquare.

Huffington Post (App World) – The Huffington Post, a leader in implementing social features to reach and interact with its network of readers and bloggers, depends on the BBM Social Platform to continue to reach its audiences, even when they are on the go.

“The Huffington Post, a leader in implementing social features to reach and interact with its network of readers and bloggers, integrates the BlackBerry Social Platform to create a place where our users can continue to engage in up-to-the-minute news stories, blogs, and analysis,” said Paul Berry, CTO of the Huffington Post Media Group.    “As a BBM connected app, we make it simple for our readers to easily share and discuss the news. BBM 6 allows The Huffington Post to continue to reach its audience in a new way when they are on the go, and without having to compromise on the quality of their experience."

Jingu (App World) – Jingu is an application for BBM only and it is focused on enriching the BBM communication experience and the BBM community with the addition of social chat, photo sharing, avatars, and more.

“Jingu users are engaging with BlackBerry Messenger in an exciting new way,” said Pankaj Gogia, Founder, Jingu Apps. “With BBM 6, ease of use is greatly enhanced with capabilities like updating your BBM profile picture directly from within the application. Jingu is dedicated to creating social networking applications built on the BlackBerry Messenger Social Platform that
leverage the new capabilities of BBM 6 and bring enriched and vastly immersive experiences to end users.”

Pocket Ants (App World) – You are the king of the ANTS- feeding, burning, fighting, and racing your ants. Now with BBM you can invite all your friends to rule an ant colony too.

"One of the keys to viral game sales is to allow users to easily invite their friends to join them in playing the games they love,” said Keith Pichelman, CEO, Concrete Software. “Integrating BBM into Pocket Ants has allowed the game to do just that."

Poynt (App World) – Find businesses, people, restaurants, movies, events and weather info. Going out for dinner with friends? Find a great spot and share it.

“I don’t know anyone who doesn’t immediately react to the ‘chime’ of BBM,” said Margaret Glover-Campbell, VP Marketing & PR of Poynt Corporation. “Being able to leverage BBM 6 to share search results provides a tremendous advantage to our BlackBerry smartphone user base who can now easily and quickly coordinate their social activities. The ability to share the app download directly within BBM is also exciting for us, given the immediacy and viral nature of the platform. From a development perspective, we see tremendous possibilities for future integration around connecting people while they’re on the go.”

PowWow Study (App World) – PowWow uses BBM integration to provide real time social event coordination. Connected BBM 6 users are directly invited and notified of events that are created using Powwow. With PowWow the latest information is made available.

“PowWow uses BBM 6 integration to enable real time social event coordination,” said Kathryn Lahrs, Founder, Lahrs Apps. “Users are directly invited and notified of events that are created with our application. With PowWow, the latest information is available and BBM chats can quickly be started if any further communication is desired. Through BBM 6 PowWow users can share their location information, which is displayed in BlackBerry Maps. There is also an option to check your contact’s availability directly from their calendars and to create an event with this information; this is a very useful tool in event planning and saves time in the process.”

ScoreMobile (App World) – Up-to-the-minute sports scores, players, stats, betting odds and more. You can invite BBM friends into the app to chat about the latest sports banter, share scores and more.

“Following sports is inherently social – fans are extremely passionate, and like to trash talk, comment, and generally share their opinions on whatever they’re watching,” says Dale Fallon, VP Digital Products, Score Media. “By integrating BBM 6 functionality right into the ScoreMobile experience, we enable our users to enjoy the game with their friends even when they’re not together. In a nutshell, BBM 6 integration allows sports fans to be social without having to leave the ScoreMobile app.”

Telmap Navigator (App World) – Telmap is a mobile location companion which now integrates with BBM to bring significantly enriched communication and interactions with users’ real-time locations.

“Telmap, a global location-based services leader, is very focused on serving all users’ needs by constantly enriching and optimizing their on-the-go experiences,” said Motti Kushnir, Telmap Chief Marketing Officer. “The integration between BBM 6 and the Telmap Mobile Location Companion significantly enriches conversations and interactions through BBM with users’ real-time locations. Telmap views this integration as an important pillar of our vision to provide a richer, more comprehensive experience to our users. We work hard to integrate our application with popular and useful platforms like BBM, to ensure added value to users who can now add location information to their interactions with friends."

Unvired (App World) – Unvired Workflow by SAP allows users to take action on the workflow documents directly from their BB. The BBM integration allows sharing of screen shots/pictures with colleagues during collaboration.

“Unvired Workflow for SAP enables approval of SAP workflow requests directly from the BlackBerry smartphone. Unvired leverages the BlackBerry message list and BBM to provide a familiar BlackBerry user experience,” said Srinivasan Subramanian, CEO, Indience InfoSystems Pvt Ltd. “The BBM platform has been smartly integrated to enable employees to collaborate seamlessly. If the user has some queries while approving the workflow, they can BBM their colleague or Manager, transfer a screenshot of the workflow item and clarify. They can then approve or reject the workflow request. The BBM chat can also be emailed to maintain an audit trail. The BBM integration with Unvired ensures quick turnaround and collaboration between employees, not just for workflow but other usages like checking discounts for a customer, escalating a customer grievance and much more.”

Wikitude (Not Available Yet – BlackBerry OS 7) – Wikitude allows you to experience your BBM in a new way. By using the camera, simply pan around your mobile to contacts in Augmented Reality. You may even find new friends in your vicinity – a truly engaging and immersive experience.

"BBM 6 is the underlying mobile social network making Wikitude on the BlackBerry platform a very unique experience. An augmented reality (AR) browser with millions of interesting places is already a very compelling and new proposition, but bringing it to life with millions of people who can chat, meet and share in an AR environment has the potential to revolutionize how we interact with one another. With BBM 6 and Wikitude preloaded on upcoming BlackBerry smartphones our AR browser will be truly going social for the very first time," says Andy Gstoll, CMO of Wikitude.

CrackBerry Asks: How many BBM contacts do you have?

BBM is one of the great things about BlackBerry smartphones. It keeps you in touch with friends and family and truly is one of the great things about being a BlackBerry user. One of the great mysteries however (well maybe not so great but still a mystery) is how many BBM contacts is too many? Some users (like myself) only have a handful of BBM contacts, while others have hundreds. There was a time I tried to add everyone that wanted to chat, but after a while it just gets too hard to keep up. Kevin has even killed a device or two adding too many BBM contacts. So our quetion today is this: how many BBM contacts do you have? Pick the option that best fits you, then leave a comment telling us about your BBM use. Thanks @ABoldGuy
