Google Voice keeps on getting better. They just announced a new feature last week that rounds out their number porting option. They recently introduced the ability to port your phone number to Google Voice but after 90 days your old Google Voice number would go back to Google. Now Google is offering users the ability to keep BOTH their old Google Voice number and their ported number for a $20 administration charge.
As Google explains “That means that calls made or text messages sent to your old Google Voice number will still reach you, however, your new primary Google Voice number will display on caller ID when you make calls or send text messages.”
Its a really cool idea and I have to commend Google for offering a way to do it for only $20. To make your original number permanently stick around head to your Settings tab in Google voice and click “Make Permanent” by the number you wish to keep.
