Lately, I've been hooked on Sundrops, by Cat Games. One of the newest games in App World for the BlackBerry PlayBook, Sundrops is a fantastic find that I can't seem to stop playing. You are given little suns as your game piece, and your goal is to launch the suns and clear the board of multicolored pearls. There are obstacles (of course) in the form of walls, wooden planks, bouncy bumpers and other such things, and depending on how you aim your sun, you ricochet off of them or knock them over and so on. The life boat at the bottom saves any suns that are lucky enough to fall into it, but any that hit the water are lost to the sea. You can collect bonuses (Ghost, Multiplier+, Grow, Shrink, Score+, Life+, Split, and Split All) to help you along the way.
There are four different game modes, so you won't run out of levels anytime soon: Adventure, Kid (the frustration free mode for relaxed play and kids), and two unlockable modes: Survival and Time attack. The atmosphere is playful and bright, appealing to both children and adults. It's a great lesson in physics and strategy, and provides just the right dose of frustration to keep you playing until the end, which to me makes it well worth the $2.99 pricetag.
