MicroVision Unveils SHOWWX+ HDMI for Mobile Big-Screen Sharing and Visual Collaboration
Expanded compatibility to growing device ecosystem and large, focus-free viewing experience unlock the potential of mobile devices for collaboration and entertainment
REDMOND, Wash. – July 14, 2011 — MicroVision, Inc. (NASDAQ:MVIS), the leader in innovative ultra-miniature laser display technology, today unveiled SHOWWX+™ HDMI™ as the newest addition to its family of award-winning, pocket-size laser pico projectors. With pure digital connectivity to a breadth of new tablets, smartphones and devices offering HDMI video-out, SHOWWX+ HDMI enables spontaneous content sharing and bigger visual collaboration outside of traditional meeting room settings.
SHOWWX+ HDMI is the perfect accessory for sharing content on the move thanks to its small size, plug-and-play connectivity and focus-free operation. New quick start capabilities offer immediate startup, and given that advancements in the latest operating systems of devices like RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook and Apple’s iPad 2 enable true display mirroring—users can connect and project everything on their device screens at image sizes greater than 100 inches in a matter of seconds.
Though HDMI is a standard feature for most laptops and computers, it is a relatively new addition to smartphones and tablets. Adding HDMI connectivity to the SHOWWX line of projectors will extend the family of host devices compatible with MicroVision’s display—delivering a larger, more vivid, focus-free viewing experience to an extended range of mobile devices once the HDMI standard is broadly adopted.
“We are giving road warriors the ability to share digital content in a compelling manner, from the palms of their hands,” said Alexander Tokman, president and CEO of MicroVision. “Extending our connectivity expands our device ecosystem. Now even more mobile device users can break free from huddling around their palm or pad-sized screens to enjoy a bigger and more immersive viewing experience anywhere, at work or play.”
Visual Collaboration and Entertainment on the Go
Unlike competing products, SHOWWX+ HDMI easily transforms from an on-the-go business collaboration tool to a big screen entertainment display that can play all [digitally rights-protected] content on the host device through HDCP compliance. In addition, MicroVision’s unique in-motion laser display technology is ideal for high intensity, action-packed mobile gaming applications, providing focus-free crisp images that do not suffer from image deterioration or “color break-up” that other pico projectors experience.
Broad Device Compatibility
In addition to being certified for use with Apple iPhone, iPad, iPad 2 and iPod touch, SHOWWX+ HDMI works with tablets including RIM’s BlackBerry Playbook and Windows 7 Tablets, and a range of compatible Android and Symbian smartphones, as well as Windows and Apple notebooks, netbooks and ultra portable HDMI-enabled devices.
It also works with compatible digital cameras, camcorders and other consumer electronics devices, as well as laptops and notebooks through an optional VGA dock. For full information on device compatibility, visit microvision.com/showwx/hdmi.
