If you're not familiar with the Entertainment Book it's the deal lover's dream. For a low one-time cost of between $35-$48/year you get 12 months of deals at hundreds upon hundreds of stores, restaurants, hotels, golf courses and attractions. They are most often sold by schools or soccer teams or other organizations doing fundraising. My family never passes it up, we get our pound of flesh from movie visits alone.
The real challenge over the years has been that when the coupons expire I've got a book that has over 3/4 of the coupons still unused. Yes admittedly there are many in the book that will never be used by me and my family but we do miss out on many good deals because we didn't know they were in there. The book is intimidating in it's size, plus the coupons are thrown in there in no particular order other than venue type.
Many times my wife and I are trying to figure where to go for dinner and will flip through the hundreds of pages trying to find a place that appeals to us but never really settle on anything from the book and just end of going to The Keg or whatever. Thank goodness the Entertainment people have come to the rescue with an app.
This app is great because I don't like leaving money on the table which is what happens when I don't maximize the use of my beloved Entertainment Book. By default when you launch the application you are immediately shown the establishments within a 5 mile radius of your current location which have a coupon in the book.
Find the vendor you're interested in and click on it. The available deal is shown along with the venue address, phone number and where in in the book you can locate the appropriate coupon.
You can expand out the search from 5 miles to 1, 10, 35 or 100 miles as well as refine by category All, Dining, Shopping & Services, Events & Attractions or Travel. The application allows you to change the search from your current location to a specific address or postal/zip code. This way if you're heading to visit a friend or relative in a different part of town you can do a search for a restaurant in that area allowing you to use another of your coupons.
Another option is to hit the map button and the map will show you the locations for all the coupons available for use in that area.
A couple last cool features is the ability to save an offer. For that time when you're out with others and you see a deal for A&W that you want in on but the group is not in for a Papa Burger, simply save the deal with the application option and recall it at a later time. Lastly you can email a deal to someone to highlight a deal they may not know about.
So now with this application Entertainment Book users can maximize the use of their precious books. If you have never used the Entertainment Book and like to save money, I suggest you get one - you'll thank me.
