RIM Acquires Mobile Social Gaming Pioneers Scoreloop

RIM Acquires Mobile Social Gaming Pioneers Scoreloop

Scoreloop (and RIM) today announced they are now part of the BlackBerry family. This isn’t RIM’s first acquisition and at the rate they’re going, I doubt it will be their last. The more the merrier right? Here’s the note from Tyler Lessard (VP Global Alliances & Developer Relations at RIM) about the acquisition:

Today we are pleased to announce that Scoreloop has joined Research In Motion (RIM). We’re excited that the Scoreloop team is joining the BlackBerry® Developer team and bringing their expertise in creating social and collaborative gaming toolkits for mobile developers to the BlackBerry platform.

Scoreloop is a pioneer in mobile social gaming and offers a customizable and cross-platform social mobile gaming developer tool kit. If you are not already familiar with them you can find out more about Scoreloop at http://www.scoreloop.com/.>

We have recently enabled our developers to create social app experiences through our BBM™ Social Platform and have seen some very innovative applications result from that. We look forward to working with the team at Scoreloop to provide tools that will further enable our developer community to take gaming to a new level of social integration on the BlackBerry platform.

Stay tuned to the Inside BlackBerry Developer’s Blog and our @BlackBerryDev Twitter account for further updates on Scoreloop and the BlackBerry platform.

For more info you can go to scoreloop.com, check out the BlackBerry Developer’s Blog at devblog.blackberry.com or stay tuned for more updates right here on BBRocks.com. I’ve included Scoreloop’s “About” info below so you can see what they’re about.

Scoreloop provides everything you need to add social elements to any game. From developers to brands, operators and OEMs, Scoreloop’s social gaming ecosystem and SDK creates instant communities and connections, and new ways to generate revenues from mobile games.

Unlike other social mobile gaming platforms Scoreloop is customizable and cross-platform, meaning that developers can add as many or as few Scoreloop features as they want. From simple social network connections to in-app purchases and virtual currency, Scoreloop makes mobile games more social and profitable.

Supported by a growing developer community and 24/7 developer support, Scoreloop adds that extra social ingredient to mobile games every hour of every day.

Scoreloop was founded in 2008 and is headquartered in Munich, Germany with offices in the US and Asia. The company is funded by the premier European VCs Target Partners and Earlybird.
