RIM did not deliver the live update we were hopping for OS 2.0 but if you are a developer you can register your BlackBerry PlayBook for early access to the OS and test your Apps. Note that this will not include native PIM apps that we were all hopping for. To register follow this link and input the information, it may take minutes to 24 hours to receive the update pushed to your device.
RIM Notes: There is 24 hour window for devs to install the update if not they will need to register again.
The PlayBook OS 2.0 is available today as a developer beta
To install the 2.0 Beta on your PlayBook, you must register your PIN below and install the update within 24 hours. This version of software contains support for developers to test their applications against the following runtimes:
- Runtime for Android apps
- Adobe AIR 3.0
- WebWorks
- Coming soon: NDK 2.0
This version of OS 2.0 does not contain end user features such as: email, calendar contacts, video store, etc.
If you do install the update and want to go back to the older OS version follow the instructions found at this link.
