Black Friday PlayBook Prices Confirmed? PlayBook This Season’s Kindle Fire Killer?

I was walking through my local Staples today and spent a few minutes playing with the demo unit for Amazon’s new Kindle Fire. Within a few minutes, a Staples employee came over and whispered that I should consider the BlackBerry PlayBook if I was looking for more of a “tablet” and less of a “reader.” I gave him an interested look and he followed up by telling me that the PlayBook would be the same price as the Kindle Fire on Black Friday. That would make the baseline PlayBook $199.99, a price that jives with what we previously reported here.  Is a $199.99 PlayBook this season’s Kindle Fire killer?

Kindle Fire and Playbook haven’t even gone through a Christmas season… how can they be killers when you don’t know how they performed previously?

re-read the headline.

The Kindle Fire and Playbook are both on market.

He says “this season’s” killer.. which would be true as we ARE in a season…..

yes its the “first” season of the Kindle Fire, but, it is a season none the less

thus the headline rings true

I have been preaching this for the past week since the news came in about the $199.99 across the board.

Everyone seems to be hoping on the bandwagon.

All RIM needs to do is pump out a 4 week ad run on the Playbook and show the price.

Even with its flaws, looking in the long run, its a WAY better purchase.

Lets assume the February 2.0 launch isn’t another fib by RIM. Are you really going to buy a Kindle Fire for 199.99 as opposed to a $199.99 Playbook because you don’t want to have to wait 1-2 months to get email or kindle app without any effort (because you can get it now through the side loader android app, although the average user wouldn’t be able to do it)

Most people who buy a Kindle Fire or Playbook this holiday season, will not be purchasing an upgrade for another 1-2 years. You have to live with this product for that long.

The Playbook has WAY MORE upside than the Fire.

One is crazy to get a Fire compared to a Playbook at the same price
