Andy Gryc of QNX Talks Automotive Applications with Paul Sykes of Freescale

Update Process

Since RIM acquired QNX I have been very interested in the QNX CAR Application Platform that they have been pushing to car vendors. You don’t usually hear much about it since these are usually rebranded by auto makers into their own car systems but QNX has been working with Freescale to bring the QNX platform and the Freescale iM.x platform to more cars. Paul from QNX pointed out a great interview on Embedded-Computing where their staff interviewed Andy Gryc, Automotive Product Manager @ QNX, along with Paul Sykes, Marketing Manager @ Freescale’s Driver Information Systems organization, about the implications and challenges of in car systems.

Andy from QNX does make a clear point of mentioning that:

…because the BlackBerry PlayBook is based on the QNX Neutrino OS, developers who create applications for the BlackBerry PlayBook could have a natural migration path between application development on the PlayBook and automotive systems based on QNX Neutrino.
