Since RIM announced their acquisition of QNX we have been seeing some of its uses and strengths beyond mobile phones and tablets. This is especially so in cars that are starting to use it to power the infotainment system. Paul over at the QNX blog pointed out that the latest OnStar FMV aftermarket rearview mirror is powered by the QNX OS. This mirror essentially brings quite a few of OnStar’s slick features like automatic crash response, turn-by-turn navigation, hands-free calling, stolen vehicle recovery, and one-touch emergency calling to non-GM cars. Cool right?
