My favorite season of the year is finally upon us. Christmas is just a few looooong weeks away, and soon many of you will be getting full swing into the Christmas Spirit. During these few hectic weeks, we tend to get so overloaded that we always forget just how much longer we have until December 25th. For that, Christmas Countdown comes to save the day. This handy app lets you instantly know just how many days are left until Christmas simply by checking your BlackBerry. Features include:

BlackBerry Charging Pod for Bold 9930 and Bold 9900 [Sponsored Ad]

From the Forums: The Bricking Issue, BlackBerry Innovations Forum, the positives of BlackBerry

Kind of a quiet start to this week, hope something fun comes up as it goes on! In the meantime, read all about the latest BlackBerry reviews, news and rumors in the blogs, and then head on over to the CrackBerry forums and see what's up with your fellow CrackBerry addicts.

Found an interesting article you want to share with CrackBerry Nation? Have a burning question about that feature you just can't figure out? There is ALWAYS more happening just a click away in the forums. You can always head over and join in the conversation, search for answers, or

lend your expertise to other members of our community. If you aren't already, take a moment to get registered in the CrackBerry forums today!

Which method do you use most when communicating from your BlackBerry?

BlackBerry is a communication tool -- no doubt about it. Email, SMS, BBM, IM and phone keep us in touch with nearly everyone when on the go. I find that I use some services much more than others, and I'm curious to know just what the CrackBerry Nation does. I honestly don't make many phone calls from day to day, but I do send loads of emails and a few SMS messages here and there. What we want to know is what method of communication you use most on your BlackBerry. Do you primarily send/receive emails? Make phone calls? Text your family and friends? Pick the option in the poll above that best fits you, then leave a comment letting us know why what you do works.

NYC Subway Trip Planner gets updated, makes finding your way around beneath NYC a breeze

NYC Subway

Whether visiting NYC for the first time or a full time resident, trying to navigate the subway system is no easy task. Luckily for those who need to travel around and make connections between various trains the folks at RailBandit have made the experience substancially more enjoyable with their latest update to NYC Subway Trip Planner.

Their latest update now makes use of the official subway map, and helps users determine their fastest route between any two given locations. After you select the start and end location the application will show you what trains you need to catch, departure and arrival times, along with your wait time between transfers. What more could you really ask for while traveling, besides for the application to do the walking for you, and find an open seat for you to sit in? If you travel to NYC frequently, or are planning an upcoming trip, be sure to hop into AppWorld and grab yourself a copy today. The application allows for a free five day trial and then after the trial if you wish to purchase it you can own your own full copy for only $4.99.

Blast from the Past: OS5 ringtones available through BlackBerry App World

Remember "Ping Me Baby! (One More Time)" by Riz? That video up there might help jog your memory. The very first sound you hear in the video is an old OS 5 ringtone called Lightspeed. As much as you might like to have it as your very own, Lightspeed and a number of other older BlackBerry ringtones just aren't preloaded on newer OS 6 and OS 7 devices. Good luck trying to find those older ‘tones on the internet; Research In Motion has been pretty diligent in keeping those sound files to themselves.

That's not to say that Lightspeed and the rest are gone forever. Thanks to a tip from CrackBerry reader Shane W, we now have a link to download them directly from BlackBerry App World. Previously, we've seen these sounds available as Over the Air (OTA) download from BlackBerry.com but getting them through App World makes things that much easier.

To me, more ringtones = more awesome. Each and every new message / phone call / Facebook notification can have its own sound on my phone. It takes a little getting used to - and occasionally my BlackBerry sounds like a Las Vegas slot machine - but it means I know exactly what kind of message I received just by listening. Add in a touch of OS 5 nostalgia, and you've got a recipe for greatness.

A quick note: once you've installed them using the App World application, the OS 5 ringtones will show up in your uninstalled applications. Whether that's a glitch or simply the result of installing an "app" that isn't an app, I don't know. Rest assured, Lightspeed and the rest will be in your ringtones folder, just waiting to tell you something new has happened on your BlackBerry.
